The Plugin That Changes Dolby Atmos Mixing Forever
Fiedler Audio just released Armada, a new immersive wrapper plugin that lets you use your existing mono plugins on immersive audio tracks in multi-mono mode. Think of it as an alternative to Waves' Immersive Wrapper, but with one major advantage: Armada also works as an OBAM plugin within the Dolby Atmos Composer and Fiedler Audio's Mastering Console. That means you can now apply any mono-capable plugin — like FabFilter Pro‑Q or Pro‑C — to a Dolby Atmos master channel, group channels however you like, and even link settings across multiple instances. In this video, I walk you through the full workflow in Reaper, from basic channel grouping and EQ to sidechaining across immersive channels.
Whether you're already deep in the Fiedler Audio ecosystem or simply looking for a solid alternative to the Waves Immersive Wrapper, Armada is well worth a look. The plugin scanner can be a touch temperamental, and I'd love to see the ability to rename individual channel names, but those are minor gripes. If you're doing any kind of immersive audio work in Dolby Atmos, this plugin fills a gap that has been missing for a long time. As always, I recommend trying before you buy — Fiedler Audio provided me with a free reviewer's licence, but they had no influence on this video.
