SnappySnap + Claude AI: A Virtual Collaborator Inside Your DAW
In this follow-up video, I finally get to demonstrate the MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration in SnappySnap — something I couldn't show in my original review because of a version conflict. MCP is a way of connecting a large language model directly to a plugin, and in SnappySnap's case that means you can use Claude to interact with the plugin in natural language: asking it to position your audio objects, create snapshots, and even interpolate between them — all without touching a single knob yourself. I walk through the full setup using Claude Desktop, the WalkMix Creator, and two tracks in Ableton, showing exactly how to configure the JSON config file, set up your MCP servers, and get everything talking to each other.
The results are genuinely impressive, even if the technology is still at an early stage. Claude correctly identifies the loaded plugins, adjusts azimuth and elevation angles based on context (drum track vs. synth track), saves snapshots, and randomises object positions on request. It doesn't always get things right on the first try — this is a non-deterministic system, after all — but the potential is clear. This is not about AI generating music; it's about AI becoming a collaborator inside your DAW.
