How SnappySnap Can Transform Your Immersive Audio Workflow
In this video, I take a look at SnappySnap by Electric Smudge — a plugin that lets you automate between entire parameter snapshots instead of individual parameters. If you've ever worked in Dolby Atmos, Sony 360 Reality Audio, or any immersive audio format, you know how tedious it can be to automate position, size, and gain for every single object. SnappySnap wraps around your existing plugins and lets you create up to 12 snapshots of complete parameter states, then interpolate smoothly between them using a single automation lane. I walk through a practical demo using the Sony WalkMix Creator, but the same approach works with any immersive audio panner or renderer.
What really caught my attention is SnappySnap's MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration, which lets you connect the plugin to a large language model — including local open-source models — to assist with positioning decisions using natural language or even voice commands. I couldn't get the MCP feature running yet due to a version conflict, but I plan to cover that in a follow-up video. At 55 USD, with a free lite version available, SnappySnap is a genuinely useful tool that could save you a lot of time. Check it out and let me know what you think!
