First Look: ab Visualiser HOA Pro – Exclusive World Premiere

Audio Brewers turns six in November, and to celebrate I sat down with founder, owner and sole developer Alejandro Cabrera for his fourth visit to the channel. We start with his latest release, the ab Compressor | Limiter. It's a fully spatial dynamics processor that accepts mono, stereo or ambisonic sidechain signals up to seventh order, so you can carve dynamic holes into specific areas of the sound field. No other plugin on the market can do that. We also talk about something I discuss almost daily: what AI coding tools like Claude Code mean for a specialist developer when anyone can build an ambisonics plugin, and why expertise, support and real innovation still make the difference.

Then Alejandro gives you the world-premiere first look at his anniversary release, ab Visualiser HOA Pro, before even his own viewers have seen it. It's a modular visualization suite with phase coherence, energy, time and frequency views of the whole sound field. It has spectrum, spectrogram and waterfall analyzers with up to four freely drawn zones, plus meters for every ambisonic order. A scene view maps the sound onto 360° or regular video, including dual-camera footage from ab Recorder that fills in the room as you rotate. It can even send OSC data to Unreal and other visual tools, it runs standalone or as AAX, VST and AU, and it's due in mid-November.
