Dolby Atmos Comes to Digital Performer, Plus 9 More Immersive Audio Stories
Something changed in immersive audio this summer. There used to be two or three noteworthy plugin releases a month, but now announcements land in my inbox almost every day, and AI-assisted coding is a big part of the reason. I can’t cover every release with a full tutorial anymore, so I’m starting a new monthly format: Immersive Audio News, a roundup of what’s happening in spatial audio and what’s worth paying attention to.
In this first edition, I look at ten stories, from major updates by channel favorites like Sound Particles and Audio Brewers to newcomers and established stereo developers making their first move into immersive. There’s also a long-awaited Dolby Atmos update for film composers, a reality check on what “spatial” really means in plugin marketing, and a glimpse of how immersive audio might quietly go mainstream. Let me know in the comments which story you’d like me to cover in a full review or tutorial.
