DeepStereo vs. Virtuoso — Which Binaural Renderer Should You Use?

In this video, I take a detailed look at DeepStereo Monitor by Leson, a new binaural renderer for Dolby Atmos and immersive audio production. I walk you through its origins in the IRCAM research ecosystem and Music Unit's two decades of spatial audio expertise, then dive into a full demo in Reaper — covering channel configuration, the different listening modes and contour settings, metering, and head tracking with the Supperware head tracker via the Bridgehead application.

I also compare DeepStereo directly to APL Virtuoso, another binaural renderer I've recommended on this channel for a long time. The two plugins take fundamentally different design approaches — Virtuoso simulates a physical room while DeepStereo aims for acoustic neutrality — and I break down who each one is best suited for and why you might even want both in your toolkit.
